Ben Lawers, 20th January 2008

A very cold and windy solo trip up Ben Lawers today.
Saw what looked like people doing winter skills stuff in various gullies....
,..and some very keen skiers walking up Lawers with thier skis and then dissappearing off the edge, only to be seen again back near the visitor centre!
Very cold at the top of Ben Lawers, 1214m. Had to get two guys, the only other people I saw on the summit to brave the wind and take my photo!
Final view of Ben Lawers, with Beinn Ghlas to the right.

Skiing in Soll, Austria, Januray 2008

Another great week of Skiing in Soll, with good weather although a bit nippy at times! Plus the "home run" was open this year which was particularly entertaining after a few beers in the "tent" at the end of the day!
This is Rudi, our instructor for the week. One of the nicest people you could meet! He was just on his way to escort Gerhard Berger, ex Austrian F1 driver, to Kitzbhuel to watch the Hannenkham, incognito! Not only was Rudi an ace skiier and teacher, he was a driving instructor, motorbike instructor, a ski racer, plus he played in a band at nights!

Berger's holiday home is on the right of the slopes, not bad eh?

Me looking hard in my £7 Lidl helmet!
