On Sunday 17th February, Lorna and myself drove up to Bridge of Orchy to climb Ben Dorain 1076m, and Beinn a Dothaidh 1004m. Despite the relative simplicity of the route, without crampons or even 4 season boots (doh!) there were a few bambi moments. Sadly the wind didn't clear the clouds away so we never got the great view from the summit.
Lorna on the sweaty climb up, even in the cold!
Impressive cornice collapse on the north side of Beinn a Dothaidh.
Bill and Stevie crossing over the coire to better snow.
Stevie looking down at the cornice over the centre of the coire, which is why everyone used the far left hand side!
Once the mist cleared we got a better view of people coming up.
Any excuse for a lie down, eh Stevie?
So we descended the NW slopes of the ridge, between Bein Ghlas and Meall Coranaich, and "messed around" doing self arrests, kicking steps and basically mucking about in the snow!
