Ben Dorain and Beinn a Dothaidh

On Sunday 17th February, Lorna and myself drove up to Bridge of Orchy to climb Ben Dorain 1076m, and Beinn a Dothaidh 1004m. Despite the relative simplicity of the route, without crampons or even 4 season boots (doh!) there were a few bambi moments. Sadly the wind didn't clear the clouds away so we never got the great view from the summit.

Lorna on the sweaty climb up, even in the cold!

Impressive cornice collapse on the north side of Beinn a Dothaidh.

Buchaille etive mor, 10th February 2008

This time myself Stevie and Bill went to Glencoe to dabble in some easy Grade 1 winter walking.
We parked at Laggangarbh and slogged up Coire na Tulaich and into the snow. As it was quite mild the snow was a little hard going but good fun all the same.
Bill and Stevie crossing over the coire to better snow.
Me having just climbed down 50m to retreive an errant camera that decided to throw itself back down!
Stevie looking down at the cornice over the centre of the coire, which is why everyone used the far left hand side!
Bill having a quiet moment with his coffee!
Once the mist cleared we got a better view of people coming up. Three handsome mountain men!
Any excuse for a lie down, eh Stevie?

Ben Lawers, 3rd February 2008

Another trip to another cold and windy Ben Lawers, this time with Mark, Stevie and Willy.
The weather was pretty mince at the top, in fact we didn't bother with the summit coz it was too bloody cold!So we descended the NW slopes of the ridge, between Bein Ghlas and Meall Coranaich, and "messed around" doing self arrests, kicking steps and basically mucking about in the snow! Willy, myself and Mark preparing to slide.
Gunner Roach (Stevie), on the move!
